Electric Tribute to King of Pop

I NEVER had the chance to see Michael Jackson perform in the flesh.

I recently watched the This Is It movie with my nine-year-old daughter and now she is showing a keen interest in his music and dance moves.

The truth is that, personal issues aside, his music appeals to all generations and will do for years to come. With this in mind, the Who’s Bad tribute band rolled into town to perform at the Theatre Severn for one night only and we had to go.

I did have my reservations whether they would be able to create the electric atmosphere seen on their YouTube trailer and they did not disappoint.

A three piece band had the place rocking, with two energetic dancers chipping in on the saxophone and trumpet and there were no less than TWO Michael Jacksons entertaining the crowd, who between them recreated his songs and moves perfectly.

They belted out all the classics, both old and new, including Jam, Human Nature, Billie Jean, Bad, Beat It, Man in the Mirror and, my personal favourite, Smooth Criminal. The whole band interacted with the crowd throughout the performance, which lasted just short of two hours, and had everybody on their feet, clapping, dancing and boogying to the sounds of the King Of Pop.

In total 13 of us went to see the performance, aged from nine to 55-years-old, and no-one was disappointed. It was a fun-packed evening for all of the family and if you are a fan and have the chance to see the band, make sure you do.
